The introduction of a function-based naming logic for brakes and couplers for trains marks a significant step toward improved clarity and orientation within our product portfolio. The new structure is based on a clear segmentation by functionality, enabling intuitive product classification.
Structured Segmentation
The brake system has been divided into seven core functional segments: Supply, Actuation, Interaction, Control, Adhesion, Friction, and Comfort.
This logic is complemented by the Couplers segment, which sums up the coupling products.
Consistent Naming Convention
Product names now follow a standardized structure consisting of up to four components:
Product family + Function + Variant + Suffix
Examples:
- “AxleAct Classic” refers to a conventional axle-mounted brake caliper
- “DrySupply Smart Max” denotes the largest air dryer in the portfolio
Historically established product names such as KE or DB60 are retained as “High Value Brands.”
