Local Activities in Hungary.
Local Care programs of Knorr-Bremse Budapest focuses on topics of the education, society and environment. The projects implemented are initiated by our employees who actively participated in the implementation with volunteer work while support was provided by our company. Many instances of long-term cooperation have stemmed from such sympathies and devotion of our colleagues which fosters harmony between individual commitment and corporate values.
We have won the CSR Hungary Award 2019 in the category of „Common issues-common responsibilities”. With this award, our commitment to local communities has been recognised.
This ward raises awareness of the fact that it is not enough for a company to be efficient and successful in business to claim that it has actually created value. Success is also measured by its approach to issues concerning the society and the environment and how it makes a difference.

We joined visually impaired young people in a tandem bicycle trip
Our volunteer colleagues helped visually impaired people cycle around lake Balaton during the tandem bicycle trip organised by the Get Moving! public benefit association. It is always moving to see the joy on people’s faces, yet we rarely get so much joy in return in a community program. All our riding colleagues had an unforgettable experience.

Presenting toys is even better when they are self-made
Minor inhabitants of the Daisy Children’s Home were surprised with gifts handmade by our enthusiastic colleagues of the AS purchasing team. It took a day of DIY work for our colleagues to make dollhouses, a knight’s castle, and a toy kitchen. The time spent together was a gift for them, as much as the toys and surprises were for the children. They spent the rest of the day having fun with children with glittering eyes.
Development engineers renovated a nature trail
Sports and hikes are popular leisure time activities for many of our colleagues, so the idea that the brake control team of our engineers should support the local community by renovating a nature trail near Budapest got the green light right away among our Local care programs. We renewed handrails, repainted tables and embellished a small garden, which can now be enjoyed by the thousands of hikers visiting the trail each year.

“CSR Hungary Award 2019” is the CSR prize of the business sector recognising the most outstanding sustainability initiatives and projects of Hungarian companies.
Since our establishment, it has been important for us to incorporate issues of the society and the environment into our business routine so that we can foster the development of the economy, environment protection and the society alike. Our CSR policy focuses on local communities. Within the framework of Local Care project, we encourage our employees every year to share with us the social and ecological issues they care the most about and the civil organisations dedicated to solving those problems, the activity of which they can actively participate in. Our company supports these initiatives by employee volunteer programs and providing the equipment needed.
CSR Hungary Award draws public attention to the fact that it is no longer enough for companies to be efficient and successful to create value. Success of a company is also measured by its views on issues concerning the society and the environment and what actions it takes.
We’re getting better and better! In 2019 we received second place in the category of large companies at the „INTELLIGENT COMPANY OF THE YEAR” competition organised by Mensa HungarIQa. By having a presence in a hundred countries around the world, Mensa aims to bring together highly intelligent people, regardless of their age, gender, origin, or social status. Our employees competed for the highest possible intelligence average in two rounds, from which 94 Mensa-level results were obtained. Congratulations to the team, we are proud to continue being the “INTELLIGENT COMPANY OF THE YEAR”.

The professional jury of Figyelő TOP200 awarded Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems Budapest Company of the Year prize in 2019. As the reputed professionals stated, the company surpassed rivals this year in terms of revenue growth, investments and innovation.
Knorr-Bremse Budapest, a subsidiary of Knorr-Bremse Group manufactures and develops brake systems. The brake systems manufactured in Budapest are applied in railway vehicle all around the world.
The company has been on the rise for the last twenty years. Expansion gained momentum in 2016 when the company turned into the largest railway brake manufacturer and developer of Knorr-Bremse. Since 2017, Knorr-Bremse has run one of the most significant vocational training centres of Hungary, Knorr-Bremse Trainee Center, where sixty students learn trades in high demand every year.
Knorr-Bremse Budapest is a bright example for the excellent German-Hungarian relations in the field of commerce and science and the Hungarian engineering traditions.
