Customers and the dedicated market team are delighted with the bright, modern market and the constantly restocked second-hand section. The joint social projects not only help fellow human beings, but also promote team spirit across departments.

Open living and warming rooms as important meeting places
Knorr-Bremse Mödling has been donating large sums to local aid organizations, including Caritas, for many years. The Open Living Room in Wiener Neustadt is a low-threshold meeting place for people in the region, where mutual help is provided on an equal footing. The Caritas Solidarity Center offers visitors a strong network and financial relief, e.g., through shared meals. It also provides a space for sharing information, social participation, and carefree get-togethers, making it an effective remedy for loneliness. Support is also provided for the learning café for children and young people and the Caritas warming rooms. These offer people a safe haven, warm meals, and a place to rest, regardless of their origin, religion, or residence status. They also receive social and legal advice there.
When handing over the donations, it is always touching to see how well these valuable offers of help are received.

Learning Assistance for Children
The KURIER Learning Center in Mödling opened in October 2019. This social project, run by the Red Cross, offers free learning support for elementary school children from socially disadvantaged families and is sponsored by Knorr-Bremse Global Care and Knorr-Bremse Mödling. Knorr-Bremse employees in Mödling volunteer as learning mentors, helping the children to learn, read, and laugh. Education is fundamental to professional success and social integration. The successes of the children and young people at the learning center confirm that investing in education pays off.

From a children's farm to a homeless shelter
The annual volunteer initiative provides financial support for projects in which employees volunteer their time in their private capacity to associations and actively participate in various activities. Among other things, funding was provided for the expansion of a playground at a children's farm for children from socially disadvantaged families. Other projects included, for example, the creation of a self-sufficient orchard in a homeless shelter, training for the youth fire brigade, and robotics courses for young people.

Expansion and Renovation in Mödling: A New Chapter for Our Location
The most extensive expansion and modernization project in the company's Austrian history has been successfully completed. Knorr-Bremse and Zelisko, Mödling's largest employers, invested around €30 million by the end of 2025 in new buildings, offices, modern break rooms, and a new company restaurant for their employees, as well as in automation projects in production.
Approximately 13,000 m² of new buildings and buildings that have been renovated and modernized both inside and out to improve their energy efficiency not only help to minimize the site's ecological footprint, but also present the company as a modern technology business.
The project will create a modern working environment for highly qualified employees and increase the company's attractiveness as an employer, said managing directors Jörg Branschädel and Manfred Reisner at the groundbreaking ceremony for the project launch in 2021 with Mödling's mayor Hans Stefan Hintner and deputy mayor Silvia Drechsler. Our flagship facility received high praise from Federal Minister Peter Hanke and Lower Austrian Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner at its opening in October 2025.
