Knorr-Bremse has been engaged in social causes worldwide for many years. It is part of who we are to participate in community life, to have a positive impact on the social environment at our locations, and to open up new prospects for those in need.
Our social commitment rests on two pillars: Local Care and Global Care. Local Care covers all local activities at our sites, while the non-profit organization Knorr-Bremse Global Care supports longer-term and more extensive aid projects worldwide.

Local Care - Subsidiary Involvement
Local Care refers to local community involvement at our sites around the world. Here are some of the forms our activities take:
- Voluntary donations of money and time for charitable purposes and for projects in the priority areas of education, health, the environment and social cohesion.
- Corporate volunteering programs in which Knorr-Bremse gives its employees time off work to support charitable organizations.
- The “Get Involved" initiative, which provides donations to support employees' personal and voluntary participation in charitable projects in their free time.
- “Matched Giving” programs, where Knorr-Bremse matches charitable donations made by its employees.

Global Care
Knorr-Bremse Global Care is an independent, non-profit organization that supports people in need in the vicinity of subsidiaries and around the world. The two priority activities of Global Care are WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) and education. Through these priorities Knorr-Bremse Global Care contributes to SDGs and especially SDG 4 Quality education and SDG 6 Clean water and sanitation. In addition Global Care provides emergency assistance to locations affected by disasters, regardless of whether the locations are located in countries where priority projects are carried out.
