Local Care in Poland

As a successful global company in the mobility sector, Knorr-Bremse bases its strategy on the principles of global and local corporate responsibility. The company undertakes responsible actions toward its customers, employees, suppliers, the environment, and society. These activities are conducted on two levels:

Global Initiatives

Through the Knorr-Bremse Global Care organization, projects are implemented worldwide to improve people's quality of life. The priority is to provide access to education, improve sanitation and hygiene conditions, and deliver water to regions in greatest need, such as Africa, South America, and Asia. In response to the war situation, efforts were recently expanded to Ukraine.

One example of the foundation’s involvement is a project in Poland: at the request of the local Knorr-Bremse organization, the Knorr-Bremse Global Care Foundation supported the modernization and renovation of the children’s ward at the Stefan Żeromski Hospital in Kraków. The initiative, called the "Happy Room," aimed to create a child-friendly environment conducive to recovery. The project included renovating patient rooms with hygiene corners, upgrading installations, radiators, windows, and doors, modernizing bathrooms (including a new parent’s bathroom), refurbishing corridors and the treatment room, and replacing equipment such as beds, cabinets, and medical devices like an ultrasound machine and a Holter monitor.

Local Initiatives

Since 2015, the Local Care program has been implemented in all Knorr-Bremse Group companies worldwide. The program’s name emphasizes the local social engagement of each unit, supporting initiatives that address the needs of their regions.
In Poland, the Local Care program focuses on supporting the education of children and youth, promoting environmental awareness, aiding health protection, and backing institutions and organizations involved in culture and sports.
The company regularly participates in projects such as the "Noble Box" initiative and the charitable Business Run, actively contributing to local communities and fostering their development. Through these initiatives, Knorr-Bremse combines its global goals with local involvement, building lasting relationships and contributing to improved quality of life in various areas.

Knorr-Bremse Global Care - Supporting People Around the World

Knorr-Bremse Global Care is an independent, non-profit organization that supports people in need in the vicinity of the Company's sites and around the world. The two main priorities of Global Care's funding activities are WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) and education. Through these priorities, Knorr-Bremse Global Care is also contributing towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 4 Quality Education and SDG 6 Clean Water and Sanitation. In addition, Global Care provides emergency aid to locations hit by major disasters, regardless of whether or not they are in the countries of its priority projects.
