COMMITTED TO SOCIETY

It is part of who we are as a company to participate in community life, to have a positive impact on the social environment at our locations, and to support people in need. Our social commitment rests on two pillars: Local Care and Global Care. Local Care involves all activities carried out by local Knorr-Bremse branches focused on local aid, while the Global Care Foundation supports big and long-term projects around the world.

Knorr-Bremse Spain pays special importance to the corporate responsibility and is committed to achieving an equal and more sustainable society according to the UN Global Compact, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Values of the Knorr-Bremse. We are proud to support several initiatives through Local Care – a group made up of some employees in Spain - which are beneficial to the community in which we operate.

"Menudos corazones" association: Support for accommodation

,,Help us to Help" is the campaign with which the Knorr-Bremse Group finances solidarity projects in which the employees of its subsidiaries are involved. We had the opportunity to support the organization in Madrid named Menudos Corazones Foundation . The projects in which we collaborated were aimed at adapting decent accommodation for the families of children born with heart diseases who must move to Madrid for surgery or wait on the heart transplant list. Having a room in a shared house in such difficult times means relieving their level of stress and alleviating the economic problems of living away from their place of residence for an indefinite period of time. We also make it easier for these children to have resources and spaces so that the negative consequences that may arise in their neurocognitive development, language and psychomotor skills, derived from complex open heart surgeries at a very early age and long hospitalizations are addressed in time.

"Dales la palabra" foundation & Knorr-Bremse: Support for children with hearing disabilities

Financial support to the Foundation "Dales la Palabra" aimed at the elimination of Acoustic Accessibility Barriers in children with hearing disabilities at the Tres Olivos School. One of the great advantages of current times is the potential offered by new technologies, which is why "Dales la Palabra" Foundation is committed to equipping with technological tools that increase the effectiveness of the work carried out by the speech therapy and teaching team with students having hearing disabilities.

The school has been equipped with the Roger Dynamic Soundfield system, which allows the connection of children's personal prostheses with other electronic devices used in the classroom, such as the digital whiteboard or computer. This system amplifies the teacher's voice at an optimal level based on the acoustics and ambient noise of the classroom, improving the students' hearing and verbal understanding and consequently increasing their academic performance. In addition, it protects the teachers' voices and allows them to interact with all students thanks to the Touchscreen transmitter.

We are very happy to be able to collaborate in this initiative with cutting-edge technology that allows us to improve educational quality and, above all, eliminate barriers that hinder children's learning.

Rudolf Steiner Association: Support for people with intellectual disabilities and their families

Action carried out by our Local Care group within the framework of the "Help Us to Help" Global Care program.

The Rudolf Steiner Association ( Asociacion Rudolf Steiner ) improves the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities and their families through actions focused on the individual development of each person. In an environment with guidelines as similar as possible to an ordinary job, it is possible the apprenticeship to create products to launch them on the market and the possibility of obtaining a paid job. With the help provided, it was possible to repair and improve the laundry shed of a sheltered home for people with intellectual disabilities, maintained by the Association.

"Creando redes" project: Supporting people at risk of social exclusion

Financial support for "Creando Redes" project, within the "Help us to Help" program.

ESE (Espacio de Solidaridad y Encuentro) is an organization founded in 2015 located in Getafe and Leganés. Its objective is to promote a space open to the entire neighborhood, where residents can access different resources for free, thus combating the risk of social exclusion. Additionally, they aim at covering the basic needs of the most vulnerable people and groups in the neighborhoods. The organization assists approximately 350 people, mainly children, women, older people and migrants. The main activities carried out are personal attention and monitoring of families in vulnerable situations, providing them with psychological and emotional support, Spanish classes for migrants, English classes for adults, school support space and free time for children, memory workshops with older people, intercultural cooking workshops, among many others. The final objective is to create a support network in the neighborhood in which all participants can contribute in a real way to integration and interculturality.
