What Will You Be Doing?

You’ll be working at our UK headquarters in Melksham, Wiltshire, a specialist engineering and manufacturing facility dedicated to Knorr-Bremse cross-connected systems, genuine parts and support. Our placement scheme includes roles in various departments, including engineering, projects, finance and IT, so there are opportunities in almost every area of the business.

Are you passionate about engineering and technology? Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems (UK) Ltd., based in Melksham, Wiltshire, are looking for talented, enthusiastic individuals who are ready to take on the challenge of working with us as an apprentice. Find out more below!

Our Apprenticeship Offering

The Knorr-Bremse engineering technician apprenticeship is provided in partnership with Make UK, who are manufacturing / engineering apprenticeship experts.

Based at the state-of-the-art Make UK Technology Hub, the course delivers a programme of training focused on building the skills we need for the future, providing our apprentices with the foundation to excel.

About Our Scheme

Starting in September each year, our apprenticeship will be completed over 3 / 4 years, with apprentices studying to achieve a Level 3 Diploma in advanced manufacturing engineering. Full details about each year of the scheme can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.

Year 1 - Residential package based at the Make UK Technology Hub, Birmingham:

  • Residence at Holiday Inn, with all other residential apprentices, 5 nights per week (Sun-Thurs)
  • Full breakfast and three course evening meal
  • Shuttle bus to and from the facility
  • Single / double room with en-suite
  • Leisure facilities, including a pool and gym

Years 2 & 3 - Knorr-Bremse site experience
You will be working at the Knorr-Bremse UK headquarders in Melksham, with block release to the Make UK Technology Hub.

Year 4 (if applicable): HNC / HND study
Hard working, dedicated individuals will have the chance to continue studying to achieve their HNC / HND (foundation degree level) qualification.

Course Details

Location: Knorr-Bremse Melksham / Make UK Technology Hub, Birmingham (Year one only, residential Monday-Friday)
Qualification: Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
Duration: 4 Years
Salary: 1st Year £12,250, rising to £17,000 second year
Entry requirements: A minimum of 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade 5,including Maths and English Language
