Knorr-Bremse, the global leader in braking systems and equipment for rail and commercial vehicles, has been present in Kazakhstan since 2015 through Knorr-Bremse Systems for Rail Vehicles Kazakhstan LLP (KB Kazakhstan).

Over the past decade, the company has steadily expanded its footprint in Central Asia. What began as a small administrative and technical team has grown into a fully-fledged commercial and service organization, achieving an annual turnover of EUR 15 million in 2024.

The new administrative and service centre of KB Kazakhstan, inaugurated in May 2023, is located within the Astana Industrial Park Special Economic Zone, occupying a total area of 1,240 m². This includes 180 m² of office space, 540 m² dedicated to production and warehousing, and additional facilities. By the end of 2025, warehouse capacity will be expanded by a further 220 m² to store materials for warranty servicing of braking equipment.

Looking ahead, a dedicated Service Centre will be launched in 2026. This facility will focus on the localized overhaul of mechanical equipment, including tread brake units and brake callipers. By providing advanced technical services in Astana, the centre will shorten lead times, increase the share of local content, and serve as a regional competence hub for Kazakhstan and neighbouring markets.

Sales in Kazakhstan and the wider region cover the full Knorr-Bremse product portfolio, including air supply units (compressors), brake control systems, metro door systems, mechanical bogie brake equipment, as well as a wide range of consumables and spare parts.

By combining original equipment sales with professional service support, KB Kazakhstan ensures reliable operation and long-term value for customers. In addition to Kazakhstan, the company holds regional responsibility for the markets of Central Asia and the South Caucasus.
