Stationary and mobile testing equipment.

Efficient, high-performance rail transportation requires the vehicle subsystems to operate faultlessly. Given the safety-critical nature of braking systems, faultless operation of the test rigs and testing devices for the brake control system, air treatment system, compressors and bogie equipment is also essential. Knorr-Bremse has its own department dedicated to the development and production of custom pneumatic and hydraulic testing equipment and the associated software engineering. It also provides technical support for equipment that is already in service.

An Established System Specialist for Stationary and Mobile Testing Equipment

Stationary testing equipment is permanently installed in laboratories and workshops. In order to guarantee faultless operation of the braking system components, Knorr-Bremse develops custom test rigs based on Knorr-Bremse test instruction.
Everyday rail operations involve several scenarios where it is necessary to carry out testing outside of the laboratory or workshop. This is where mobile testing equipment comes in, ensuring that components or even entire systems can be tested under real operating conditions. To maximize ease of use, Knorr-Bremse fits these testing devices with high-performance batteries, allowing them to operate for up to eight hours without an external power supply. The Company is able to provide operators with attractive customer solutions in conjunction with its aftermarket specialists at Knorr-Bremse RailServices.

The MI-8 “Transformer" and a Wide Range of Additional Testing Equipment

The MI-8 "Transformer" from the North Macedonian test equipment specialists within the Knorr-Bremse Group, adds a high-end mobile brake testing device to the Company’s portfolio, that is intuitive to operate, easy to transport, shockproof and can be used across a wide range of temperatures. It is suitable for testing a variety of braking systems on different rail vehicles, such as freight and passenger cars, locomotives, multiple units and rail maintenance vehicles. Furthermore, an extensive range of additional testing equipment ensures the correct functioning of other system components, encompassing everything from leak and profile tests to pressure, force and temperature sensor checks.

TESTING EQUIPMENT, TEST RIGS AND CUSTOMIZED SERVICE KITS FROM RAILSERVICES COMPLETE THE PORTFOLIO

Mobile Testing Equipment for Rapid Car Inspections

Rapid train dispatch is essential for efficient freight transportation. However, in the interests of safety, a full brake inspection must be carried out every time a new trainset is put together. Passenger train brakes must also be inspected at regular intervals to ensure that they are working properly.

Mobile testing equipment and test rigs are designed for situations where no fixed testing facilities are available or getting to the nearest facility would take too long. The RailServices portfolio includes mobile testing equipment and test rigs for almost every conceivable track and trackside application, with wired and wireless versions catering to different local conditions. The latest models use powerful smartphones, transmitting data via existing mobile networks.

User-friendly Service Kits

RailServices can supply vehicle operators with special service kits that make repairs and the more simple overhauls safer, faster and cheaper. These user-friendly kits contain all the tools you need for the job, along with clear instructions.
